Solidarity with the poor is closely associated with the celebration of the Eucharist. In the words of Blessed John Paul II,
the Eucharist is not merely an expression of communion in the Church’s life; it is also a project of solidarity for all humanity.
This presentation will feature personal testimonies from Trócaire project partners
as witnesses to the organisation’s work as “a project of solidarity for all humanity.” They will speak of the agency’s work to fight poverty and oppression in some of the world’s poorest countries, supported by the charity of Irish Catholics.
If we love others with charity then first of all we are just towards them…justice is inseparable from charity”
(Pope Benedict XVI).
Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga (President of Caritas Internationalis and Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, Honduras), will offer a short personal reflection on the theme.
