A walk in the hills, a park or by the sea, whether the weather is good or bad, is good for our spirit. At this time of year the hills, grass, trees and flowers are renewing and stretching themselves. Similarly with prayer – when we go to visit God in nature around us, we can always see something new. And like nature itself, we too are ready for surprises and growth.

Communing with nature we are in the presence of a tremendous mystery of natural growth, love, hope, forgiveness and friendship. God’s love and concern is always breathing on us. We sharpen our minds and hearts just noticing this changing universe around us.

Last Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, we were reminded that we are made of dust – our Lenten walk can remind us we are all made of dust, stardust and we are called to breathe life into others and to live forever, to rest in peace and rise in glory in God’s vast eternal plan.
