The bishop said he was unclear whether parishes can actually have the baptism before the party. He went on to explain that he is not sure whether the legal restrictions have changed or if further clarification is forthcoming.

“Our Church cannot function effectively without income. Please support in whatever way you can,” said a statement issued by one Dublin parish.

“Bereavement touches us all and the service is a very special way for families to remember together,” state the organisers.
