The card-making industry at Glencairn began in 1955 with the design and production of Christmas cards and other greeting cards by the late Sr Paula Kiersey.
The 27 Cistercian sisters each have their own work, but they all gave of their time, as did three lay helpers, to ensure that the breads were baked, cut and packed in time for the WMOF three-day conference at the RDS, Dublin.
On 19 August Sr Lily Scullion, from St Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn, Co. Waterford, will join the all-female silage crew which will mow, rake and draw 30 acres of silage at Mount Melleray in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Manuscript contains “considerable body of new information which will help re-evaluate the history of St Mary’s Abbey and the civic life of Dublin in the 14th and 15th centuries”.
