Bishop Brendan Leahy and his Church of Ireland counterpart Bishop Kenneth Kearon will participate in the ecumenical prayer live on webcam from Mount Saint Alphonsus in Limerick city at 11am today.

“Social distancing cannot be allowed to create social isolation and, through prayer, as Pope Francis said on Sunday, we can overcome,” said Archbishop Eamon Martin.

“I would like to propose to all Christians that, together, we lift our voices towards Heaven,” said the pope, who will start saying the ‘Our Father’ in Rome on Wednesday at 10am Irish time. 

“I renew my heartfelt appeal for the international community to act promptly and decisively to avoid the repetition of similar tragedies and to guarantee the safety and dignity of all.”

“No matter what your troubles, no matter what mistakes you have made or sinful things you have done, you are His son or daughter. You are part of the family. You belong.”

The film follows the story of several pilgrims arriving on Lough Derg and reflects on how the pilgrimage still manages to reach out to those seeking time out from the stresses and pressures of contemporary living.
