In the tradition of Mgr Hugh O'Flaherty they are “not walking away from conflict, but stepping towards it, to help the most vulnerable, at the time of their greatest need.”
Beatification is not only a fitting tribute to his work, "it is also a powerful message of solidarity to those who continue to put their lives at risk to speak out against injustice".
The 2015 recipient will be announced in late August and presented with the award on Saturday 31 October during the 8th Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Week.
