The Association of Catholics in Ireland (ACI) carried out a pilot study among members in 36 parishes to explore the extent of lay leadership in the Catholic Church and the role that the laity plays in parish leadership.
The question of celibacy is already being discussed at the highest levels in the Vatican – Noel McCann, ACI.
The two groups aim to work for “an inclusive Church” where laity, religious and clergy work together in collaborative ministry.
