Remember John 3:14-17
Jesus said to Nicodemus:
“The Son of Man must be lifted up as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert,
so that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.
Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world not to condemn the world, but so that through him the world might be saved.
Reflect A different colour
Why does the priest at Mass wear rose coloured vestments today instead of the penitential purple of Lent?
It is the reminder of Easter just around the corner. We are well on the way, but not there yet. So we wear the colours of joy and expectation and wait patiently.
Our joy is from the love which has brought us here makes us the work of art we are.
Jesus is lifted up on the cross so we may have life. In all our thoughts on Lent and the death of Jesus, we are also people of the resurrection.
Today we stand between the two. We are saved but not fully yet.
We can see the sunset but we are not there yet.
Jesus has done his bit for us. Now we are working with him it as his collaborators.
Jesus stands ready with us and with the final lifting!
We can often think of God and faith as abstract. Yet our faith tells us that he sent his son Jesus to gather us together. He is the one who went through all we go through and rose from death. As our faith in this becomes stronger, then we find love from God more active in our lives. At times when there is little else there, we unite ourselves with the sufferings of Jesus and rise with him. God, beings love, not promises of an easy life nor magical solutions, but love always.
We live on amazing grace, and the graced light is Christ. Easter is around the corner, if we take a corner too quickly we crash. In life there is often a call to patience. We live now patiently in the light of the coming Easter event.
Look on the world – its business, goodness and evil,
and let God’s love for the world become your love.
Prayer
Lord, by your cross and resurrection,
you have set us free;
you are the Saviour of the world.
Thank you.
I believe, help my unbelief
Amen
