Called to More, an online Catholic faith formation platform that was launched in Ireland this year, has recently interviewed well-known US priest, Fr Mike Schmitz.
Called to More is an Irish-based, freely accessible faith formation platform. By providing high-quality videos, podcasts and articles launched from the calledtomore.org website and promoted on Facebook and Instagram, Called to More seeks to communicate deep and profound truths about the Catholic faith in a way that is relevant, accessible and attractive.
The mission of the online platform is to help young Catholics in Ireland know their faith, grow in relationship with God, and be equipped and confident to share their faith with others. Contributors include Fr Conor McDonough OP, Fr Gavan Jennings, Dominic Perrem of Alpha Ireland, Gerard Hanley of the Archdiocese of Dublin, Muireann Lynch, and journalists Rachel Sherlock, Ben Conroy and Katie Ascough.
The hour-long interview with Fr Mike focuses on how to improve your prayer life and is broken up into clips on topics like ‘Quality vs Quantity in Prayer’ and ‘3 Ways to Grow in Faith During Pandemic’. The full interview has reached over 16,000 views.
Co-founder of Called to More, Edward Barrett-Shortt, said: “We are delighted to see that despite only launching Called to More fewer than three months ago, we have thousands of people visiting our website each month, the vast majority of them from Ireland. Our social media has continued to grow and our videos are regularly getting thousands of views on Facebook and Instagram.
“All this truly shows the need and demand for catechesis among young Irish people which we hope to meet as we grow our faith formation platform.
“Our interview with Fr Mike Schmitz is the first episode in a series called ‘Colloquy’. Each episode will be a recorded video call with different leaders in the Catholic world covering a range of topics — from prayer and the sacraments to life and ethics.
“We have a wonderful line-up of priests, religious and lay theologians that we are very excited to speak with. Upcoming topics include how to read the Bible, and the Eucharist.”
