Advent is a time of waiting, of hope and expectancy, a time to radiate joy and to be at peace. While the liturgical colour is purple, unlike the deeply penitential character of Lent, purple in Advent characterises the darkness of waiting which gives way to light – the light of the Incarnation.

May we prepare our hearts and minds to greet the Lord.

Lord, help us to enter the spirit of Advent,
this Season of Grace, of the Lord’s favour.
Sacred season of the Lord’s mercy,
Joyful season of salvation.
