Tuesday of the Second Week of Advent 9-12-14

If a shepherd has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? .’

Reflection: Lost and Found

There are times when we feel lost, and that’s when we’re glad someone looks out for us. We can troublesspend time in the wilderness —
times of bereavement and loss,
family breakup,
poverty,
let-down, illness and
loneliness.
We want to hear caring voices in our wildernesses.
We need the voice of God and the community of the church at its best.
And we can be voices of hope to others, in our care and prayer for each other.

Jesus shep workingGod is the shepherd who cares,
bringing with him a garment to keep out the cold,
or the dust of the wild,
or the rain and snow —
because he loves each of us.
God is one voice in our wilderness, never turning off us.
People are other voices of God.
And then the wilderness becomes  like a garden.

Prayer:

Bcandle1e a voice of hope, dear Lord,
an ear that listens, a hand that soothes.
Be with us in our wilderness times.

Please:

Offer a prayer today for carers, -our carers at home,
those who work with our relatives, our sick, our disabled-our dying,
our carers in general hospitals, nursing homes, and nental instituions
our carers in social and prison services
