Our Lady’s Choral Society perform Handel’s Messiah.

Our Lady’s Choral Society will give a live performance of Handel’s Messiah in Dublin’s Fishamble Street to mark the 272nd anniversary of its first performance.

The choir will perform excerpts from the work at the very site of the original performance, Mr Neil’s Musick Hall in Fishamble Street, this Palm Sunday (13 April at 1pm).

Stuart Kinsella (tenor), the Dublin Handelian Orchestra and Proinnsías Ó Duinn (conductor) will join with Our Lady’s Choral Society to provide the on street entertainment.

On Monday, OLCS will present a Celebration of Handel in Adam & Eve’s Church, Merchant’s Quay at 6.30pm.  

Colette Boushell (soprano), Stephan Wallace (counter-tenor), Stuart Kinsella (tenor), Jeffrey Ledwidge (bass), the Dublin Handelian Orchestra and Proinnsías Ó Duinn (conductor) will all contribute to the performance.

Admission is free. Donations will go to Merchant’s Quay Homeless Project.

Zadok the Priest (Coronation Anthem No 1)
Utrecht Jubilate
Sarabande in D minor
Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne

As well as extracts from:
Te Deum for Queen Caroline
L’Allegro, Il Prenseroso Ed Il Moderato
Apollo E Dafne
The King Shall Rejoice (Coronation Anthem No 3)

Separately, a pilgrimage of seven churches in the Dublin parishes of James Street, Francis Street & Meath Street will take place on Palm Sunday beginning at 2pm at St James’ Church.

Ahead of that, this evening, the Palestrina Boys Choir and the Orchestra of St Cecilia will perform Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater; Handel’s Organ Concerto no 4 in F with soloist Adam Collins; and Handel’s Lenten Choral Pieces at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral this Saturday 12 April at 7.30pm.
