Friday of the Third Week of Advent 19-12-14
Gospel: Luke 1:15
Even before his birth, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit
Reflection: Carrier of God
Each one of us is loved from ‘before our birth’.
As we follow the Lord Jesus in the days before his birth, we know that Mary is carrying one filled with the Spirit of God.
We can be amazed at this fullness of God in a child, and then recall that each child is filled with the love of God from the first moment of conception.
When a mother carries a child in her womb,
and a father leads a child by the hand,
they are carrying and leading the small body
where God has made his home.
Because of the gift of God,
all of us belong in the stable of Bethlehem —
we have in a sense been born there,
since we are all born in the love of God’s Spirit
as were Jesus and John the Baptist.
Prayer:
Jesus, child of God, come to birth in each of us,
with the hope, the joy and the wisdom of God,
surround us with your Spirit of new love.
Please offer a prayer today for :
new mothers and fathers,
parents of children with differences,
adopting parents and their children,
foster parents and their children
